System Architect

aXseum Inc. seeks a Full-time System Architect to support the DTRA mission on location in Ft. Belvoir, VA

We are searching for an outstanding candidate to be a key contributor on the Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS) including Nuclear Management Information System (NUMIS), Defense Integration and Management of Nuclear Data Services (DIAMONDS), Joint Application Design Environment (JADE) and DIAMONDS Accountability Training System (DATS) projects.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements: 

  1. Establish DSMS architecture within the context of the overall system including selection of processor types and architecture, and software architecture and major interfaces, in accordance with applicable DoD and other Federal policies and guidance, such as Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  2. Plan and develop architecture and design plans for communication and collaboration products, operating system platforms including servers, devices, management products, applications and overall security related to implementing these products.
  3. Developing architecture artifacts as requested by DTRA to document newly integrated capabilities within the DSMS Enterprise Architecture. The artifacts shall include the following reference models as applicable:
  • Business Reference Model
  • Service Component Reference Model
  • Technical Reference Model
  • Performance Reference Model
  • Data Reference Model
  1. Analyzing objectives, categorize and prioritize requirements, and architect solutions.
  2. Architect, implement, and deploy leading edge technologies and solutions.
  3. Assist in the strategic planning process to ensure strongly aligned IT and business goals
  4. Providing consulting and SW and IT Lifecycle Frameworks that offer best practice processes, guidance, and custom-tailored solutions for managing the entire IT life cycle (planning, preparing, building, maintaining).
  5. Refining current architectures and assist in the deployment and integration of communications solutions

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  1. Demonstrated Experience working with DoD and other Federal Architecture policies and guidance
  2. Demonstrated Experience developing DoDAF documentation
  3. Advanced degree of analytical ability.
  4. Advanced skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  5. Intermediate skills in database design and concepts.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  1. Certified as an IASAE II in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance (IA) Workforce Improvement Program Manual. (CSSLP desired)

Quality Assurance Engineer
aXseum Inc. seeks a Full-time Quality Assurance Engineer to support the DTRA mission on location in Ft. Belvoir, VA.
We are searching for an outstanding candidate to be a key contributor on the Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS) including Nuclear Management Information System (NUMIS), Defense Integration and Management of Nuclear Data Services (DIAMONDS), Joint Application Design Environment (JADE) and DIAMONDS Accountability Training System (DATS) projects.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements:
1. Developing and maintaining a product-oriented Quality Control Plan (QCP) containing all deliverables and milestones of the contractor’s technical approach
2. Providing insight into performance criteria for each project phase including a definition of the performance requirements, performance objectives, acceptable quality levels, surveillance method, and incentive metrics
3. Utilizing the QCP to assure completeness of deliverables enabling the Government’s quality assurance and validation
4. Performing all quality control inspections necessary in the performance of the various tasks as assigned and identified by the respective WBS, POA&M, or quality system, and submit related quality objective evidence
5. Ensuring all management and development practices conform to SEI CMMI Level 3
6. Planning and conducting internal acceptance testing prior to release of any software versions, enhancements, or upgrades
7. Validating testing and ensuring the enhancements meet user and operational requirements as documented
8. Preparing for the testing with requirements documentation, updated software designs, updated architecture diagrams, complete security certification and accreditation updates, and test reports as well as assisting the Government in testing the software
9. Testing not only the specific software versions, enhancements, or upgrades but how it integrates with current applications, and planning and executing regression testing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Strong desire for quality, and attention to detail
2. Familiar with the software development process
3. Have the ability to withstand pressures and provide appropriate feedback when there are issues with the quality/processes/schedule/risk
4. Working knowledge of nuclear weapons accountability practices/procedures
Minimum Education and Experience:
1. Associate Degree required or direct work experience may substitute for education (1 year experience = 1 year education).
2. 4+ years of experience with CMMI methodology, software defect tracking tool usage, software test case design and execution, SQL database query language, basic understanding of web technologies.
3. Must have working knowledge of Nuclear Accountability practices and procedures
4. Security+ certification required

Software Engineer

aXseum Inc. seeks a Full-time Software Engineer to support the DTRA mission on location in Alexandria, VA. 

We are searching for an outstanding candidate to perform programming, research, analysis, and support for the Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS) projects for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).

General Summary: 

Performs programming, research, analysis, and support for the Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS) projects for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).

 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements:

Performs research, analysis, and programming support to write code in Visual Studio C# and modify existing ColdFusion, Flash and ActionScript functionality.

  1. Perform software engineering and integration in accordance with all applicable DTRA and DoD standards, industry best practices and conventions, and in compliance with DoD standard architectures and interoperability/supportability requirements tailored for the DSMS programs
  2. For DSMS legacy system, develop/modify application modules using ColdFusion, Flash and ActionScript (1 or 2) to support new functionality as required by the users.
  3. For DIAMONDS Next Generation, develop/modify application modules using Visual Studio C#, CSS, JQuery, HTML, frameworks and other web technologies to support new functionality required by the users.
  4. Analyzes and modifies existing database SQL and PL/SQL stored procedures and generate new stored procedures as required.
  5. Participates in software and database design analysis.
  6. Assists with analysis and documentation of user requirements.
  7. Participates in peer reviews and mentoring activities within the development team.
  8. Performs unit testing of individual modules prior to it being released to the Quality Assurance team.
  9. Create/update documentation for all work performed.
  10. Performs all other work as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Advanced degree of analytical ability.
  2. Knowledge of CMMI policy and procedures for software development
  3.   Advanced skills in problem solving.

Software Security Engineer

aXseum Inc. seeks a Full-time Software Security Engineer to support our Defense customer on location in Alexandria, VAWe are searching for an outstanding candidate with strong security experience to work with the software development team to ensure that applications for all systems are compliant with DoD and other Federal IA policies and guidance.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements: 

  1. Coordinate with other program teams, planning and create cybersecurity Architecture ensuring compliance with policy and guidance
  2. Employ Best practices when implementing security controls within an information system (IS). This includes:
    1. Software engineering methodologies
    2. System/Security engineering principles
    3. Secure Design
    4. Secure Architecture and
    5. Secure coding techniques
  3. Refine and develop security policies, security plans, risk assessments, continuity of operations (COOP), disaster recovery (DR), and other cybersecurity standards for the agency.
  4. Develop cybersecurity architecture and design plans for communication and collaboration products.
  5. Providing security engineering support for accreditation.
  6. Integrate cybersecurity expertise into lifecycle management, planning architecture and design management, migration and deployment, and system testing and implementation.
  7. Research, develop, test and document architectures and solutions for implementing new cybersecurity technologies that provide more seamless information collaboration and cybersecurity capabilities for DSMS and its user base.
  8. Develop and provide a criticality analysis, to identify associated logic-bearing system components (e.g., hardware, firmware, and software) that implement, protect, or introduce vulnerability, to that function (hereafter referred to collectively as the “critical components”)
  9. Develop and update mission criticality analysis, vulnerability assessment(s), risk assessments(s), and identification and counter measurement implementation(s) for Mission-Critical Functions, and ensure that updated assumptions, rationale, and results related to the criticality analyses, vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, supply chain risk information, and risk mitigations are made available for Government review.
  10. Demonstrate the mechanisms in place to effectively monitor the supply chain for critical components, understands how supply chain risk can be introduced through those components, and has implemented or plans to implement countermeasures to mitigate such risks
  11. Performs all other work as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated Experience working with knowledge of DoD IA and IT Standards
  2. Demonstrated Experience developing and working with Software Security principles
  1. Advanced degree of analytical ability.
